Nature

January 23, 2010

It’s been a while since I posted so here goes.

One of my favourite things to shoot is nature. Outdoors in the lush green forest, whether it be a river running or a thick old growth forest, it’s hard to keep me away. All my images are for sale as stock images.

Salmon Spawning

November 28, 2009

Well it’s that time of year again. The salmon run is almost over here at Goldstream park in Victoria, Every year I try and make it up and photograph the fish. Mainly the dead one’s I am after. They are more intriguing to photograph. MOst people find this quite gruesome but it makes for a great subject, especially the macro shot’s of there rotting heads. So here are  a few images from this years Salmon run.

Fall is one of my most favourite times to get out in the season. Especially on the west coast with the large yellowish leaves falling and the lush green moss. Makes for some beautiful nature photos. It’s also that time of the year when the salmon start spawning at Gold stream provincial park. I went up today but not much action with the fish yet. I will be going back in a few weeks when the river fills up with more salmon. For now I have some images from two weeks ago. I did a day trip up to the Cowichan valley to go pick mushrooms but had no luck in finding any so the camera came out instead. Here are a few  shots. All images may be purchased as fine art prints.

Nature photos

September 8, 2009

Well, I have had some slides sitting around for some time. Images that I have taken this summer that I have neglected scanning, but this weekend I finally got to it and scanned them. These two images are from Witty’s Lagoon in Metchosen British Columbia.
This is one of my favorite places to go as it is half and hour from Victoria and there are no city light’s to be seen. Great for star trails as well.

Mile Zero

July 9, 2009

I was down at MIle Zero in Victoria a few weeks back for a beach fire that lasted most of the night. I snapped off a few shot’s of the ocean while the sun was slowing setting in the background behind the clouds. These images are long exposures with a filter over to make my exposures longer. I have only taken my wide angle lens when a few hours later the moon was rising in the far off distance. It was the orangest moon I had ever seen in my life. As well as being so orange it rose so slowly. I have never seen the moon rise that slow. It must have taken 5 hours to slowly rise over the horizon. A sight that was amazing.
